The emerging bioethical dilemmas in medical genetics

The article, published in partnership with the Portuguese psychiatrist and researcher Zagalo José Antonio Cardoso, from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, University of Coimbra, discusses some of the bioethical dilemmas currently made to medical genetics: prenatal diagnosis, genetic screening and presymptomatic diagnosis, etc.. It invokes the decisional autonomy of patients as a guiding principle of all others, in addition to dialoguing with the main bioethical guidelines for the definition of health policies and for their professional activity.
